At 0840hrs on 13th May, the bulk carrier Xin Dong Wan 1(L:221.7m, B:46.5m D:18m) loaded with 68353t coal was stranded in Neilingding waterway of Pearl River Mouth in high tide, putting 26 crew members on board in danger and posing a threat to the safety of ships passing by.
Upon reception of alert message, China Rescue and Salvage instructed Guangzhou Salvage to carry out salvage operation in the first possible time. Guangzhou Salvage immediately sent out technicians to the scene of incident to make a thorough survey over the condition of distressed vessel and work out a scenario on the basis of survey report. At 0000hrs on 14th, Guangzhou Salvage mobilized 4 powerful salvage tugs, i.e tug Sui Jiu 201, De Shun, De Peng and De Hua, to the incident spot post-haste. After almost 10hrs hard work, the casualty was successfully re-floated at 0920hrs on 14th with all 26 crewmember safely rescued, eliminating the threat to the safety of the Pearl River Mouth waterway.
